When you use sites like myspace or hotornot, and you lie about your country, can people tell where you really are? Or can they see your IP address? How about if you talk to someone on AIM, does it show there? And if you send a picture?

Well I used to have a map from maploco on my myspace, which showed the location of people who viewed my page. However on Myspace it is against the rules to have ANY data collection like that... My page was almost deleted. As for hotmail, aim, and any other myspace information, no your details are as you put them in, and unless they have software addons they cannot get your ip address. Or location. Although I would wonder... Are you worried that your true location will show up or trying to catch somebody in a lie?

The average person will not be able to figure anything out. ip address wouldn't imediately give your location away. It doesn't show up on aim but there are programs that you can run to find out.
